Always The Sun

The urge for an act of walk, – a walk as a “sort of crusade” in Thoreau’s words, was there for quite some time. And the Sun, often present in my work, appeared to me in a dream in a very peculiar way.

One night I was looking at an old map of Milan, the place I feel very connected to. The Sun’s daily orbit and the grid of the city’s streets gravitating to its heart – shaped center came together, creating an image that was deeply responding to me, tracing my movement. And I walked, meeting with the Sun along the city streets, on the days when the Sun clearly appeared during one-year cycle.

The visual record of the walks towards the Sun, as a repeating performance throughout November 2014 to November 2015, is published in the form of e-book in 2021. It contains sublime photographic images of selected moments of walks, blended with the fragmented poem as a voice-over. It is introduced with an interview with the artist.
