Always The Sun

The urge for an act of walk – a walk as a “sort of crusade” in Thoreau’s words, was there for quite some time. And the Sun, often present in my work, appeared to me in a dream in a very peculiar way.

One night I was looking at an old map of Milan, the place I feel very connected to. The Sun’s daily orbit and the grid of the city’s streets gravitating to its heart – shaped center came together, creating an image that was deeply responding to me, tracing my movement during one-year cycle. And I walked, meeting with the Sun along the city streets, on the days when the Sun aligned with the each one of them.

The visual record of the walks towards the Sun, as a repeating performance throughout one year cycle - from November 2014 to November 2015, is published in the form of e-book in 2021. It contains edited photographic images of selected moments of walks, blended with the fragmented poem as a "voice-over".
